Much like the Ten Commandments, the Pillars of Islam are a
way in which to provide spiritual function as well as foundation for a person.
Shahada: Known as a brief prayer that proclaims the oneness
of God and faith in Islam, it states that ‘there is no God but Allah, and
Muhammad (s.a.w) is the prophet of Allah’.
Salat: the conduction of prayers five times a day towards
the direction of Mecca (the Holly city), these are conducted at certain times:
at dawn, noon, late-noon, at sunset and evening.
Zakat: Which is also known as payment made yearly under
Islamic Law; it is mostly done to help the underprivileged and sick, though
this act is not determined by the government it is simply regarded as an
important religious duty to be performed.
Sawm: one of the most demanding pillars; it requires Muslims
to fast during the month of Ramadan: which is a period where food and drink are
not to be consumed between sunrise and sunset.
Hajj: this is known as the pilgrimage to Mecca, which every
Muslim is expected to make at-least once in their life.
Yes, so how does this Pillars influence the Islamic Architecture?
